T20 World Cup 2021, ENG vs WI: England record their first ever victory against Windies in the T20 World Cup

T20 World Cup has entered the super 12 stage and England crushed the defending champions in the second match of the double header.

The English bowling line-up completely crushed the West Indies batting line-up and bowled them all out in the 15th over itself.

England won the toss and elected to bowl first. Bowling first England managed to bowled out West Indies on a score of 55 and then chased it with 6 wickets and 70 balls remaining.

Moeen Ali was awarded with player of the match for his amazing bowling spell of 2 for 17 in 4 overs out of which one was maiden.

This is the first time in the history of T20 World Cup that England managed to defeat the former two times champion.

Match Summary

England won the toss and invited West Indies to bat first. Simmons and Lewis came to open the innings for Windies.

West Indies got their first blow in the second over itself in form of Lewis who got out after scoring 6 runs of 5 ball on Chris Woakes’ delivery.

Simmons got out in the very next over and returned to pavalion after scoring just 3 runs of 7 balls on Moeen Ali’s ball.

West Indies lost two more wickets in the first powerplay in form Hetmyer in fifth and Chris Gayle in the sixth. Chris Gayle was the only Windies batsman to score a double digit score.

Gayle got out after scoring 13 runs of 13 balls. West Indies lost 4 wickets on the score of 31 in the first powerplay itself.

After that England bowlers kept on taking wickets on regular intervals and literally crushed the batting line-up of the Caribbeans.

Windies lost their 9 wickets even before reaching the score of 50. Adil Rashid during the end of the innings crushed the remaining hopes of West Indies reaching a respectable total.

Rashid grabbed 4 wickets in his 2.2 overs spell for just 2 runs and restricted the Caribbean Innings to 55.

Jason Roy and Jos Buttler came to open the Innings for England and chase the target of 56 runs.

They did give team a start but not for long as Ravi Rampaul gave Windies their first break through in the fourth over on the score of 21. Roy got out after scoring 11 runs of 10 balls.

Hosein gave Windies their second wicket in the very next over in form of Baristow. He got out after scoring 9 runs of 6 balls.

Moeen Ali got run out in the next over giving West Indies their third wicket on the score of 36. Hosein in the next over took the wicket of Livingstone and gave England their fourth blow.

Now England were on 39 at the loss of 4 wickets, winning from here for West Indies was next to impossible.

The skipper Eoin Morgan joined Jos Buttler in the middle and steered the rest of the innings to victory without any further loss of wickets.

Jos Buttler returned after scoring an unbeaten 24 of 22 balls and helping his team with a dominant victory over the rivals.

England will be happy with this win as a win this big will definitely boost their net run rate and help them ahead in the Tournament. This is their first ever victory in T20 World Cup against West Indies.

West Indies are the giants of these formats and will try get back from this embarrassing loss.
