T20 World Cup 2021, SA vs ENG: Van der Dussen and Markram lead Proteas to 189

T20 World is headed towards the end of the super 12 stage and South Africa is up against England in a do or die clash in the second half of the double header.

South Africa really need to win this match that too with a really huge margin to get ahead of Aussies in net runrate and get into the Semi finals.

England won the toss and elected to bowl first. Proteas batting first managed to score 189 runs at the loss of 2 wickets in 20 overs.

Rassie van der Dussen and Aiden Markram score unbeaten half centuries and helped their side reach a big total and chance to fight for the semifinals spot.

Match Summary

England won the toss and invited South Africa to bat first. Reeza Hendricks and Quinton de Kock came to open the innings for Proteas.

The openers failed to gave their team a start as Hendricks lost his wicket in the third over itself.

Hendricks got out after scoring just 2 runs of 8 balls on Moeen Ali’s delivery.

Rassie van der Dussen joined Quinton de Kock and progressed the scoreboard. Both of them joined a 71 runs partnership for their team.

Adil Rashid gave England the much needed break through in the 12th over in form of Quinton de Kock. He got out after scoring 34 runs of 27 balls.

Aiden Markram joined Rassie van der Dussen and lead the rest of the Proteas innings. Van der Dussen even completed his half century.

Rassie van der Dussen and Aiden Markram scored 71 runs in last five overs for their side. Aiden Markram completed his half century in just 24 balls.

Both batsmen did an amazing 103 runs partnership and helped their side reach 189 in 20 overs.

Proteas now will have the challenge to stop the most successful batting line-up of the tournament and win the match by more than 50 runs.
