T20 World Cup, ENG vs BAN: Roy’s 61 knock Bangladesh and their semi final hopes

T20 World Cup is in the super 12 stage and England grabbed a dominant victory over Bangladesh in the first half of the double header Wednesday.

England with this win has solidify their claim to the semi finals and turning out to be the real favorites of the global tournament.

Bangladesh with this loss have almost lost their chances to make it into the playoffs and the road ahead for them is really next to impossible.

Bangladesh won the toss and elected to bat first. Bangladesh batting first could only manage to score 129 runs at the loss of 9 wickets and England chased it with 8 wickets and 35 balls remaining.

Jason Roy was awarded with player of the match for his splendid half century knock of 61 runs in just 38 balls and helping his team grab a big win over Bangladesh.

Moeen Ali sent both the openers back on two consecutive deliveries in the 3rd over giving Bangladesh their first two blows of the match.

Bangladesh lost another wicket in the sixth over in form of Shakib Al Hasan. He lost his wicket to Chris Woakes after scoring 4 runs.

Mushfiqur Rahim scored a 29 and Mahmudullah 19 helping their team reach 124.

Bangladesh kept on losing wickets in regular intervals and failed to achieve a big total.

Nasum Ahmed played a little cameo and scored an unbeaten 19 of 9 balls in the end and help his team reach a fighting total.

Bangladesh could only manage to score 124 in 20 over at the loss of 9 wickets.

Jason Roy and Jos Buttler came to open the Innings for England and chase the target.

Both batsmen gave team a good start until the fifth over when Shoriful Islam gave England their first blow in form of Jos Buttler who got out after scoring 18 runs of 18 balls.

Dawid Malan then joined Jason Roy in the middle and progressed the rest of the innings.

Jason Roy now totally shifted into the next gear and started firing blazing shots. He wanted to finish this fast and he even did so.

Roy got out in the 13th over but he did his job now England were only 14 runs away from the target.

The rest of the formalities were completed by Malan and Bairstow. Both returned not out after finishing the job.

England chased the score with 35 balls remaining and in a really dominant fashion with 8 wickets still in their hand.

Bangladesh’s hope for semifinals are almost extinguished and the English side have solidified their claim.
