The Indian cricket team is ready to begin the Champions Trophy 2025, scheduled from February 19 to March 9. The side declared a strong 15-member squad with Chief Selector Ajit Agarkar making the announcement during a press conference. Indian national captain Rohit Sharma was also present at the press conference in support.

Team India's Champions Trophy Squad

Under the shrewd leadership of Rohit Sharma, Team India has declared a well-balanced and promising squad that would ensure winning the prestigious Champions Trophy. Shubman Gill is named the vice-captain of the team and adds further on-field leadership. The squad contains both veteran stars and emerging youngsters who include the following names:

Fast bowler Mohammad Siraj is notably missed from the team. Exclusion of such a player at this stage is being questioned by fans and analysts alike.

Tournament format and Schedule

The eight teams that will be part of Champions Trophy 2025 will be divided into two groups. The Indian team has been placed under Group A. Some of the teams with whom India is going to share a match are as follows in the group round robin stage:

20 February: India vs Bangladesh
February 23: India vs. Pakistan
March 2: India vs. New Zealand

The top teams from the group stage will go on to play the semifinal, which will also be followed by the final match for the championship.

India at Champions Trophy History

India has a good record in the Champions Trophy, having won it twice:

2002: Tied as the event was washed away due to the rain of the final.
2013: Champions after winning the final against England.

The last edition of the tournament was held in 2017, where India reached the final but lost to Pakistan, who emerged as the champions.
