Tokyo Paralympics: At the Tokyo Paralympics on Tuesday, India’s Mariyappan Thangavelu won silver while Sharad Kumar took bronze in the men’s high jump (T63).
Thangavelu won the silver medal after clearing 1.86m, while Sharad Kumar cleared 1.83m.
Varun Singh Bhati, the third Indian in the competition, came in seventh place with a clearance of only 1.77m.
Sam Grewe of the United States won the event with a clearance of 1.88m.
Thangavelu and Sharad Kumar gave India a total of ten medals at the Tokyo Paralympics.
At the 2016 Rio Paralympics, Thangavelu took home the gold medal, while Varun Singh Bhati took home the bronze.

Singhraj Adana, a shooter from India, won bronze in the men’s 10m air pistol SH1 event earlier in the day.
At the Tokyo Paralympics thus far, India has won two gold, five silver, and three bronze medals.
On Sunday, Bhavinaben Patel won a silver medal in the women’s singles (Class 4) table tennis event, and Nishad Kumar won a silver medal in the men’s high jump (T47) event, before a medal rush on Monday.
India earned two gold medals on Monday, with shooter Avani Lekhara and javelin thrower Sumit Antil.
In the men’s javelin throw (F46), Devendra Jhajharia and Sundar Singh Gurjar took silver and bronze, respectively, while Yogesh Kathuniya took silver in the men’s discus (F56).
