Tokyo Paralympics: Manoj Sarkar won the bronze medal in the men’s singles SL3 event at the Tokyo Paralympics on Saturday, defeating Daisuke Fujihara 22-20, 21-13.
Manoj Sarkar took 22 minutes to win the first game and 19 minutes to win the second.
In the first game, Manoj had to fight hard against his Japanese opponent.
Despite leading 18-14, the Indians were stunned by Fujihara’s comeback, as he surged to the game-tying point first.
Manoj, on the other hand, maintained his composure and won the game 22-20.
He won the second game 21-13 in 19 minutes, securing another medal for the country in badminton.
Manoj’s Paralympic campaign had previously gotten off to a shaky start in Group A.
To compatriot Pramod Bhagat, he lost his first game 10-21, 23-21, 9-21.

However, he advanced to the semifinals by winning his second group 21-16, 21-9 against Oleksandr Chyrkov of Ukraine.
Manoj beat Great Britain’s Daniel Bethell 8-21,10-21 in the last-four stage to qualify for the bronze medal match.
Meanwhile, Pramod Bhagat won the gold medal in the men’s singles SL3 event after defeating Daniel Bethell 21-14, 21-17.
Krishna Nagar, meanwhile, defeated Krysten Coombs of the United Kingdom 21-10, 21-11 to qualify for the men’s singles SH6 gold medal final.
At these Paralympics, India has now won 17 medals.
It has four gold medals, seven silver medals, and six bronze medals to its credit.
This is India’s best performance at a single Paralympics.
India had won four medals in the 2016 Paralympics in Rio de Janeiro and four at the 1984 Paralympics in Los Angeles.
