Chelsea continued their unbeaten run under new coach Thomas Tuchel as they beat a lacklustre Tottenham Hotspur at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. Jorginho’s penalty handed Chelsea all three points as Tuchel registered his first Premier League away win on Friday. Chelsea are now 6th with 36 points from 22 games.

Thomas Tuchel, who replaced Frank Lampard as Chelsea boss has now seen his side take seven points from his three PL games. Chelsea are yet to concede a goal under Tuchel.
A 24th minute penalty converted by Jorginho, did not do justice to Chelsea’s domination away from home. A foul by Eric Dear on Timo Werner saw Chelsea get the spot kick. The visitors could have and should have extended their lead in the second half as Callum Hudson-Odoi and Mason Mount came close to score.
Spurs could barely get a kick in the match, as Mourinho’s side suffered back-to-back home league defeats for the first time. Tottenham, who topped the table in December, have slumped to eighth on 33 points.
Tottenham missed their best chance when Carlos Vinicius headed one glorious late chance wide. Eric Lamela forced a low save from Edouard Mendy before that.
Jose Mourinho said after the game, “The performance in the first half was inferior to Chelsea. They had the initiative and they had the ball. We were in very low positions. The reality of the first half is that with them being superior, a penalty decided the game. In the second half, they were not superior, and they had the low block.”
Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel quipped, “In general I’m very pleased with the result and the deserved win. We were very, very good in the first half and very dominant, very strong with the ball and good with counter-pressing, we did not allow counter-attacks against one of the most dangerous teams in Europe for counter-attacks.”
