TATA IPL 2022 finally lifted its curtains with the clash of Kolkata Knight Riders against Chennai Super Kings in the first match of the season.
Kolkata Knight Riders and Shreyas won the toss and elected to bowl first.

Ruturaj Gaikwad and Devon Conway came in to open the innings for Chennai Super Kings.
Umesh Yadav was given the responsibility to start the bowling with the new ball and he did not disappoint.
The first ball of the match resulted in a no ball and this was for the first time in the history of IPL that the first ball of IPL was a no ball.
He although came back strong as he dismissed the dangerous Ruturaj Gaikwad on a four ball duck.
Umesh Yadav gave KKR a great start in the first over as it ended with just 3 runs but grabbed the crucial wicket of Ruturaj Gaikwad.
Robin Uthappa came in place of Ruturaj Gaikwad to progress the innings alongside the opener Devon Conway.
