Virat Kohli is coming back to lead Team India for the first time since T20 World Cup 2021.

This will be the first match for Virat Kohli under the new Head-coach Rahul Dravid.

Virat Kohli earlier missed the T20 series along with first Test match. He will be back in the role of the skipper and will be leading the team from front.

Team India might get a much-needed boost in the middle order with the return of King Kohli in the final test against New Zealand.

Virat Kohli will also have an opportunity to break a historic record and surpass the Aussies Legend Ricky Ponting.

Virat Kohli to surpass Ricky Ponting

With the second test starting from tomorrow at Wankhede stadium, King Kohli will be making his much awaited return.

Virat Kohli will be having an opportunity to surpass the Cricket legend Ricky Ponting in the upcoming test.

He is currently tied with Ricky Ponting for scoring 41 centuries as a skipper and will have the opportunity to get ahead of him.

The stat may seem alluring but the issue with it is that, Virat has not scored a single ton in any format in past two years.

His form in the red-ball Cricket has not been what we all know him for. The last ton from his bat came 56 innings ago against Bangladesh in November 2019.

The silver lining is that Wankhede stadium is one of Kohli’s favourite ground. He has scored 433 runs in the four test that he played at the Wankhede stadium.

The last time he came out to bat at this venue, he scored 235 runs against England in 2016.

Virat Kohli will be looking forward to mark this opportunity with a great comeback.

If Virat Kohli manages to score two centuries he will surpass Ricky Ponting for another great feat and become the batsman with second most centuries in International Cricket just behind the God of Cricket, Sachin Tendulkar.

Cricket fans all over the world are waiting for Virat’s form to comeback and hoping that it will happen in the upcoming match.
