‘We were the real OG’s’; Cred new ad features 90’s favourite cricketers

Cred new ad: Cricketers and entertainment, be it on field or off, goes hand in hand. And in advertising films, bringing out the unorthodox side of cricketers is the latest trend.

On the internet and television, commercials featuring cricketers doing things they aren’t popular for are becoming increasingly common.

Recently we were enlightened with Rahul Dravid’s ‘anger issues’, credits to the Cred App commercial.

Meanwhile, in the latest television ad, Venkatesh Prasad, Javagal Srinath, Maninder Singh, and Saba Karim are among the cast members.

These names are synonymous with serious cricketers with a cool demeanour representing India on the biggest stage and worrying opposition teams, according to anyone who followed cricket in the 1980s and 1990s.

Former India cricketers have shown a side that no one could have imagined in their wildest dreams in an advertisement for CRED, a credit card bill payment site.

These four people have formed a boy band and seen dancing and singing like rappers.

The following are the lyrics to the song in the new cred ad:

“You will not recognise me if you are a member of Generation Z.
Just ask your father, and don’t forget about us because of the T20s.”

Srinath and Venkatesh Prasad bowled fast, Maninder Singh bowled left-arm spin, and Saba Karim batted wicket-keeper.

In the 1990s, these cricketers became household names.

The sight of their favourite cricketers dancing to a jingle entertained many on Twitter.
That is, until now.

In the ad, the “Venkaboys” can be seen singing that “In the 90s, we were the real OGs.”

Well, this isn’t the first time CRED has come up with anything so extraordinary.

We were overawed by Rahul Dravid’s road rage, which included shouting at people from his car and even smashing the side mirror of an adjacent vehicle.
