With the final of the World Test Championship (WTC) slated to start on June 18, Team India has stepped up its preparations and is currently playing an intra-squad match.

The BCCI shared pictures and videos of the game on the field.

The Indian cricket board posted a nearly minute-long video on its official Twitter account on Saturday.

The highlights video included clips of Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Shami, and Ravichandran Ashwin.

They are demonstrating their bowling prowess against batsmen like Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli. Pant walked back while lifting his bat at the end of the video.

“A good Day 1 at office for #TeamIndia at the intra-squad match simulation ahead of #WTC21 Final,” the BCCI wrote on Twitter, describing the highlights from Day 1.

Most of India’s top cricketers, including Kohli, Pujara, Rahane, Rohit, Shami, and Ashwin, agreed.

Against the likes of Shami and Siraj, Kohli, Pujara, Gill, and Rahane were seen playing great defensive shots.

The purpose of the match is to get the players match ready as there are no warm-up games ahead of the WTC summit clash against New Zealand.

The WTC final is to start on June 18 at Southampton’s Ageas Bowl.

Unlike India, New Zealand will have some match experience after a two-Test series against England.

On June 3, Team India arrived in England and completed a three-day quarantine at the on-site hotel.

The Indian cricketers were last seen in action in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021, which has been postponed.

India will play England in a five-match Test series following the WTC final.
