The final WWE pay-per-view at the Thunderdome was a mixed bag, with some excellent matches, some surprising and even frustrating endings, and zero championship changes. WWE Champion Bobby Lashley defeated Drew McIntyre at WWE Hell in a Cell, while SmackDown Women’s Champion Bianca Belair defeated Bayley within the terrifying structure.
In the opening Hell in a Cell event, Bianca Belair maintained her SmackDown Women’s Championship, while Seth Rollins defeated Cesaro in a close contest. In yet another bout worth seeing, Sami Zayn pinned Kevin Owens. Alexa Bliss vs. Shayna Baszler was, as you can guess, a disaster. Both of the final two matches were excellent, albeit one of them, the Raw Women’s Championship, had a sloppy conclusion.
WWE Hell in a Cell Results
WWE Championship — Bobby Lashley (c) vs. Drew McIntyre (Hell in a Cell)
Drew McIntyre is no longer eligible to contend for the WWE Championship, at least not while Bobby Lashley is in charge. In the main event of Hell in a Cell, Lashley used a roll up to beat McIntyre. The main event was fantastic.
Winner – Bobby Lashley
SmackDown Women’s Championship — Bianca Belair (c) vs. Bayley (Hell in a Cell)
The programme began with the SmackDown Women’s Championship Hell in a Cell bout. Bianca Belair defended her title by pinning Bayley after hitting a vicious KOD from atop a ladder.
The highlight was Bayley ordering Michael Cole to shut up when he was talking about her loss at last year’s Hell in a Cell while wedging kendo sticks between the ring and the cage. Belair gave Bayley a spinebuster with those kendo sticks a few moments later, which was also amazing.
Winner: Bianca Belair
