When it comes to wrestling and entertainment, nobody does it better than World Wrestling Entertainment Inc. (WWE). And to commemorate India’s 72nd Republic Day on Tuesday, WWE organised a special event – WWE Superstar Spectacle highlighting our very own Desi wrestlers. All in all, the event featured some upcoming Indian wrestlers who are raring to take the platform by storm.
The off the roof historical affair highlighted the likes of Guru Raaj, Giant Zanjeer, Dilsher Shanky, Jeet Rama, Sareena Sandhu, Indus Sher (Rinku and Saurav), and The Bollywood Boyz. The Indians competed in tandem besides the likes of WWE Champion Drew McIntyre, AJ Styles, Finn Balor, Charlotte Flair, and others.
As for the presentation, WWE like always was full of panache. If the entrance music of the Indian wrestlers were dazzling, the Bollywood music and dance had to be the icing on the cake.
WWE Superstar Spectacle 2021: Match Results
Finn Balor defeated Guru Raaj – Guru Raaj took the fight to Balor and showed off some scintillating skills. No doubt Raaj needs more polishing, but squaring off against Balor was a statement in itself. Balor prevailed but had to earn the victory through hard work.
Eight-Man Tag Team Match – Dilsher Shanky and Giant Zanjeer team with Rey Mysterio and Ricochet defeated Dolph Ziggler, Cesaro, Baron Corbin, and Shinsuke Nakamura. After Great Khali, Dilsher and Zanjeer are probably the next two giants from India. Both standing above seven feet tall, a lot up the Thunderdome with their performance. Mysterio and Ricochet, as usual, were not only acrobatic but they literally were airborne.
AJ Styles defeated Jeet Rama – India’s multiple-time National Heavyweight Champion in Kushti, Jeet Rama made a strong statement. He took Styles by the scruff of his neck, but if it was not for the latter’s aid Omos, Rama could have been the winner.
Charlotte Flair and Sareena Sandhu defeated Bayley and Natalya – First-generation born Indian-American Sareena Sandhu joined forces with WWE Women’s Tag Team Champion Charlotte Flair to beat Bailey and Natalya. Despite lacking finesse, Sandhu performed well.
Drew McIntyre and Indus Sher vs. Jinder Mahal and the Bollywood Boyz – Jinder Mahal wad back in action since June 2019. Indus Sher – Rinku and Saurav let a roar that they are here to stay. The Bollywood Boyz were great on the occasion too.
