When it comes to Pokemon Sleep, you win even if you sleep! The Pokemon Company, best known for the popular anime television series, a long list of Nintendo games, and the popular Pokemon Go, will soon release another mobile game called Pokemon Sleep, which is unlike any other game you’ve ever seen. To advance in the game, you don’t need to grind for hours, go outside and explore new areas, or even be particularly skilled at any skill other than sleeping. The game rewards you for sleeping and allows you to catch rare Pokemon. The first look at the game is now available.
The game was first mentioned in 2019, but according to a report by The Verge, nothing more was heard of it until 2023. The Pokémon Company held a livestream on February 27 where it unveiled the game’s first trailer. The gameplay as well as the actual gaming experience are shown in the trailer.
Pokemon Sleep: Snooze to catch rare Pokémon
In essence, the game is a sleep monitor that you can play by falling asleep. Dozing, snoozing, and slumbering are the three unique kinds of sleep time in the game, and depending on the category you earn, which Pokemon you will draw.
The game transports you to a little island where Snorlax lives. On this island, Professor Neroli is doing research on Pokémon sleep. When you go to bed, you must clock in, and you must also set an alarm for when you want to get up. The software will keep track of your slumber, and depending on how much you sleep, you’ll draw in various Pokemon that you can catch. You can now capture uncommon variations of the same Pokemon thanks to the addition of specific sleep types to the game (similar to Shiny Pokemon).
The business also unveiled Pokemon Go Plus+, a companion gadget for Pokemon Go that also functions as a sleep tracker for Pokemon Sleep, along with the trailer for the game. The only necessity for the game, it was stated, is the app; participants do not, however, need this device.
The game’s release date is not yet confirmed, but it is anticipated to happen later this year for iOS and Android.
