The Apple iPhone 14 Series has been creating a lot of buzz and set to get significant changes. Leaks have already revealed a lot about the upcoming iPhone 14 series including a shocking change – the notch-less redesign.
Launched in 2021, the iPhone 13 series has been one of the most successful smartphone line-up in recent times. The tech community is expecting massive updates for iPhone 14 series even before its official launch.
Here’s a look at the biggest rumoured changes in upcoming iPhone 14 lineup:
1. No iPhone Mini
The mini size launched by Apple with the iPhone 12 series is disappearing in favour of an affordable version of the Pro Max size – the 6.7-inch iPhone 14 Max.
The iPhone lineup for September 2022 is expected to include these four models – 6.1-inch iPhone 14, 6.7-inch iPhone 14 Max, 6.1-inch iPhone 14 Pro, and 6.7-inch iPhone 14 Pro Max.
2. Dual hole-punch display design
Several leaks in the past have claimed that the design of iPhone 14 Max will be same as the iPhone 14. However, it will be the same size as the iPhone 14 Pro Max. But the two 6.7-inch phones will not be identical.
The iPhone Pro Max will get three cameras on the back and a dual hole-punch display design. The iPhone 14 Max will get the same notch as the iPhone 13 and two cameras on the back.
3. Camera bump
The size of the camera module stands out, as the Pros will come with a much larger bump than the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Pro. If all of these design leaks are true, the iPhone 14 Max could have a bigger battery than the iPhone 14 Pro Max because the camera module takes up less space in the phone. However, it is not confirmed.
Leaked molds for the iPhone 14 series provide better look at all four iPhone 14 models, including the iPhone 14 Max. The camera bump also stands out here. The iPhone 14 Pro models will feature a significantly larger camera module than the non-Pro variants.
4. Satellite connectivity
The Apple iPhone 14 series is rumored to get satellite connectivity. It will revolutionise the essential connectivity in an emergency situation.
We normally connect through the telecom operators’ cellular network, but we often come across situations where there is no connectivity and we need to make an urgent call or send an important message. Satellite connectivity will meet this challenge.
5. Shape change
According to render artist Ian Zelbo (via AppleTrack), the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max will be “much more curved” as compared to the iPhone 13 Pro models. Hence, there might be a shape change in iPhone 14 Pro models, which is going to be a big upgrade.
6. Narrower bezels
As per the CAD schematics, the Apple iPhone 14 Pro will come with narrower bezels all-round as compared to the current generation smartphone. The side-by-side look at the CAD schematics provides a glimpse of the new feature in the upcmong phone. Although the difference is not huge, the iPhone 14 Pro will get a bigger display viewing area.
Previous CAD renders had revealed a slightly thicker body of the iPhone 14 Pro as compared to the iPhone 13 Pro. However, the height and width appeared mostly unchanged.
Both the regular and Pro version of the iPhone 14 series will come with a 6.1-inch and a 6.7-inch display.
Bloomberg’s top Apple guru Mark Gurman has claimed in an exclusive report that the prices will go up to $300 as a result of Apple’s decision to replace the iPhone 13 mini with an iPhone 13 Max.
So, an iPhone 14 Max will cost around $200 less than an iPhone 14 Pro Max. An iPhone 13 Pro Max is currently priced at $1,099, which would cost $899 for an iPhone 14 Max, a $200 increase over the $699 iPhone 13 Mini it replaces.
Several leaks have claimed that rising component costs and Apple’s determination to differentiate between Pro and non-Pro iPhones will see the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max jump to $1,099 and $1,199, respectively.
That $200 gap potentially brings the iPhone 14 Max to $999, or $300 more than what an iPhone 13 Mini costs. But if the iPhone 14 Max costs around $1,000 and for just $100 more you can get an iPhone 14 Pro with superior design, an improved camera, next-gen performance, and 120Hz ProMotion display, the reaction might be quite different.
8. Pill-And-Hole Design
Leak has suggested that the iPhone 14 Pro models may sport a pill-and-hole design for Face ID sensors and the front camera. Apple enthusiast Saran posted a picture that has reportedly gone viral on the Chinese website. According to the post, the alleged pill-and-hole design can be seen on the iPhone 14 Pro Max and iPhone 14 Pro models with thinner bezels.
