Popular instant messaging app WhatsApp has plans to end support for iOS 10, iOS 11, iPhone 5, and iPhone 5C soon. However, there is no need to panic since companies implement new changes and hence keep themselves updating. This also helps them improve user safety and security in the face of the changing world and its threats. So, the Meta-owned platform has announced that it will drop support for older versions of iOS used inside erstwhile iPhones. Following this update, many in-app features of WhatsApp may no longer be available to iPhone users worldwide, only those who are still using dated versions of iOS.
These features can be payments or reactions, however, it’s not clear which features will be affected by this change. WhatsApp also does the same to the Android ecosystem so that it can keep them up to date.
WhatsApp to drop support on older iPhones from Oct 24
As per WhatsApp tracker WABetaInfo, the chat application will stop supporting the aforementioned iPhones from October 24, 2022. Devices running iOS 10 and iOS 11 may not work properly with all features after this update. The iOS 12 and above will be the least supporting base to take full advantage of WhatsApp features.
Since Apple iPhone 5 and iPhone 5C are not compatible with iOS 12, these users will not be able to use WhatsApp as the new changes begin to roll out. WhatsApp’s this move is aimed at improving chat security and other features within the app.
