New MacBook Pro models are reportedly being introduced by Apple later today. The company is holding briefings on Macs with select members of the press and influencers this week, according to insiders, and an announcement could be made via Apple’s Newsroom website.
Although information is still scarce, it is assumed that the newest M2 Pro and M2 Max chipsets, which were first unveiled in June, would be included in the next MacBook Pro versions.
The 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro models are also expected to offer Wi-Fi 6E, which extends Wi-Fi to the 6GHz band for more bandwidth, faster speed, and lower latency. The latest 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro models only support standard Wi-Fi 6 in the 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands.
As the M2 processor has already shown to be a major advance over the previous generation, these upcoming MacBook Pro models will most certainly be a significant improvement over the existing models. The processor, which is now present in the 13-inch MacBook Pro, iPad Pro, and most recent MacBook Air, has dramatically enhanced performance in benchmark tests.
It’s also anticipated that the upcoming MacBook Pro models will just receive minor spec bump improvements and not undergo any big design changes. This is perhaps the reason Apple is anticipated to make the announcement through a press release as opposed to a significant event.
