The prospect of an iPhone Flip hasn’t been officially disclosed by Apple, but it hasn’t stopped industry professionals from making predictions about it. Ross Young has said that the release date might be as soon as next year, but Ming-Chi Kuo has stated that a foldable iPhone won’t be available until 2025.
But will it have a tablet-like appearance? Or will it be a folding clamshell phone?
The latter style of design is indicated by the most recent concept renderings of the rumoured iPhone Flip. We have received new renders of an iPhone 15 Flip from 4RMD, who has previously created renderings of rumoured iPhone models.
The 4RMD clamshell folding phone boasts a 6.8-inch Super Retina XDR display inside that can withstand up to 200,000 folds and a smaller exterior display that shows the time and important notifications (size not given).
The design and specifications aren’t really ground-breaking, despite how stunning it appears. The telephoto camera was removed to create place for the secondary display, but otherwise the design is very similar to the iPhone 14 Pro. The 48MP main camera with an f/1.8 aperture and the 12MP ultrawide sensor with an f/2.2 aperture on the iPhone 14 Pro are what are left.
The anticipated A17 Bionic, which we expected to see in the iPhone 15 Pro, Pro Max, and/or iPhone 15 Ultra variants later this year, is also present in this idea (the Ultra could replace Pro Max or be its own offering).
The iPhone Flip doesn’t have to be revolutionary. It may just fold and still keep up with the top smartphones. With their most recent products, rivals like Samsung and Oppo effectively do that, and this iPhone 15 Flip render demonstrates how Apple may do the same.
The most frequent response we receive from Tom’s Guide readers is that they don’t actually require something like this. Therefore, it would have been excellent if the movie demonstrated various usage situations rather than just technical details.
Apple’s foldable phone would be even more similar to its top device, the iPhone, if the anticipated specifications materialise, than the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4 is to the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra. However, it wouldn’t surprise us if an iPhone 15 Flip was built more on the Pro version than the standard model. That would entail an A16 Bionic processor and a 12MP main camera, neither of which would be particlarly impressive.

Nevertheless, given the numerous rumours surrounding a postponed foldable iPhone, we wouldn’t bet on an iPhone 15 Flip or perhaps even an iPhone 16 Flip.
