Redesigned Google Pay app launched: Know what’s new

Google has launched an all-new Google Pay app for Android and iOS users in the US. The new Google Pay app has a new logo and design and offers a host of new features similar to the app in India.

“Today we’re taking an important step forward in our quest to make money simple, secure and helpful. Starting in the U.S., we’re launching a redesigned Google Pay app on Android and iOS. The new app is designed around your relationships with people and businesses. It helps you save money and gives you insights into your spending. It’s built with multiple layers of security to keep your money and information private and safe. And in 2021, it will give you the chance to apply for a new kind of digital bank account with trusted financial institutions,” Caesar Sengupta, General Manager & VP, Google said.

Though the new Google Pay logo is available for Indian users but still there are some of the features that are yet to arrive in the country.

For example, the new Google Pay app lets users to order food from within the app but this feature is not available in India but it’s there for users in the US. However, Indian users can link their accounts with other apps to use Google Pay to make payments.

Another interesting feature of the new Google Pay app is that now a group of friends can split a bill by simply creating a group. Moreover, users will be able to keep a track of who has paid and the app will also help you do the math on who owes what.

Google Pay users in the US will now be able to buy gas at more than 30,000 gas stations and pay for parking in more than 400 cities from within the app.

“If you choose to connect your bank account or cards to Google Pay, the app will provide periodic spending summaries and show your trends and insights over time—giving you a clearer view of your finances,” Sengupta said in the blog.

The tech giant has also launched its mobile-first bank account called Plex, which has been integrated into Google Pay.
