Samsung Galaxy A22 5G and 4G with 5,000mAh batteries launched: Price, features and specs

Samsung Galaxy A22 5G

Samsung has renewed its A-series of smartphones with the Samsung Galaxy A22 5G and the Samsung Galaxy A22 4G. The two devices have a similar appearance; however, they differ as far as specifications are concerned.

Samsung Galaxy A22 5G sports a triple rear camera and a larger display, while the Samsung Galaxy A22 4G comes with a quad rear camera. Both Samsung phones have a large 5,000mAh battery.

For now, Samsung has launched the new phones in the Netherlands. The company has not revealed the date for their global launch.

The 5G variant is available in Gray, Mint, Purple, and White colours, while the 4G model is offered in Black, Mint, Purple, and White.

Samsung Galaxy A22 5G

The 5G model features a 6.6-inch Full HD+ display with a 90Hz refresh rate. Aldo, there is a waterdrop notch for the single selfie camera.

The smartphone gets its power from an unnamed octa-core processor, claimed to be the MediaTek Dimensity 700. The same processor is found in the Realme 8 5G as well as the Poco M3 Pro 5G.

Samsung Galaxy A22 5G offers up to 8GB of RAM and up to 128GB of internal storage, which can be expanded up to 1TB using a microSD card. Its triple rear camera module takes the same colour as the smartphone.

The camera setup contains a 48-megapixel main camera with f/1.8 aperture, a 5-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera with f/2.2 aperture and a depth sensor of 2-megapixel. There is an 8 megapixel selfie shooter at the front for selfies and video calls.

Other striking features of the smartphone include Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, 5G and a 5,000 mAh battery that supports 15W fast charging.

It costs EUR 229 (approx Rs 20,300) for the base model with 4GB of RAM and 64 GB of storage. The price of smartphone with 4 GB of RAM + 128 GB of storage is EUR 249 (approx Rs 22,100).

A22 4G

This model offers relatively smaller 6.4-inch HD+ Super AMOLED display with a 90Hz refresh rate and the waterdrop notch for the selfie camera. It packs an unnamed octa-core SoC that is reportedly the MediaTek Helio G80. Budget phones like the Tecno Spark 7 Pro and Poco M2 Reloaded carry the same processor.

The smartphone offers up to 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. It is worth noting that there is a quad rear camera setup.

It includes a 48-megapixel main camera with f/1.8 aperture and support for Optical Image Stabilization (OIS), an 8-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera with f/2.2 aperture and two 2-megapixel shooters apt for macro photography and depth sensing.

The phone also sports a 13-megapixel selfie camera with an aperture of f/2.2 for selfies.

Other features include 4G LTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, a side fingerprint scanner, and a 5,000 mAh battery with support for 15 W fast charging. The pricing for this smartphone remains unclear.
