The ability to disable spam filters and conceal warning flags for all users or “a specific allowlist of senders” has been announced by Google as a new feature coming to Gmail. In a blog post about workspace upgrades, the tech giant advised, “You may consider turning off these alerts when performing anti-phishing training with your end users.
Admins of Gmail can now turn off spam filters
The additional choices provide admins greater freedom in how they configure the visibility of the warnings throughout their organisation. According to the corporation, warning banners can also be turned on or off at the domain and OU levels.
The tech giant had also released a beta version of its client-side encryption for Gmail on the web in December of last year, which would protect critical information in email bodies and keep attachments secret even from Google servers.

“Google Workspace already encrypts all data while it is in motion between our facilities and at rest using the most recent cryptographic standards. Client-side encryption supports a variety of data sovereignty and compliance requirements while enhancing the secrecy of your data, according to the business.
The blog post also shows that admins have the option to enable or disable warning banners at the domain and OU levels. Users won’t have access to this information; instead, “your admin setup will control whether you receive spam warning banners in Gmail.”
For those who are unaware, it was recently revealed that Google intends to end a trial programme that allowed some political campaign emails to get past Gmail’s spam filters. Additionally, regardless of a sender’s political affiliation, Gmail’s filtering techniques “apply identically” to all of them.
Through this arrangement, Google’s spam detection techniques are not applied to candidates, political party committees, or leadership political action committees.
