Twitter donates USD 15 million to help India fight against COVID-19

Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey says that the platform has donated USD 15 million to help India fight against COVID-19 crisis.

The country is currently battling an unprecedented spike of coronavirus cases. Jack Dorsey says that the amount has been donated to three non-governmental organisations – Care, Aid India and Sewa International USA.

Twitter says that the grant of USD 10 million will support CARE’s urgent action to help fight against the infections devastating India.

These funds will be utilised for supplementing government efforts by setting up temporary COVID-19 care centers. Apart from providing oxygen, PPE kits and other critically supplies, it will also address the vaccine hesitancy.

Moreover, several organisations and countries are coming ahead to help India fight against COVID-19.

WHO Chief Scientist Soumya Swaminathan says that there is no available data so far which suggests that the double mutant strain of coronavirus is resistant to vaccines.

Her remarks come after some media reports quoting her that the double mutant is also potentially resistant to the available vaccines.

Earlier, Sundar Pichai and Satya Nadella had also announced help to India. Nadella has also pledged support to aid relief efforts and purchase of critical oxygen concentration devices.
