What makes Google camera 8.8 and Pixel 6 ultimate night sight duo?

Published Date:

The quicker and enhanced Night Sight feature, which came standard with the Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro, is one of the features that Google added to the Pixel 6 series in the Pixel March Feature Drop. But, Google was able to create an algorithm, as is customary, that enables the 2021 Pixel models to obtain features that were initially only accessible on its 2022 phones.

With the Magic Eraser, which eliminates distractions from photographs and is available on all Pixel models, Google frequently engages in this practise. Moreover, it utilised the improved version of the Pixel 7 series’ Direct My Call feature. introduced it to the Pixel 6 line and the Pixel 4a (5G) model. Even before the automated recording outlining the options begins to play, this displays on the screen all the options available to someone calling a business (press 1 for customer support, press 2 for accounting, and press 3 to make a payment).

Without having to turn on the flash, users may shoot photos in low light with the Pixel Night Sight feature. Users of the Pixel 6 series who use the Google Camera app version 8.8 now enjoy the enhanced Night Sight. Users of the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro will notice a difference because their Night Sight photographs now have “reduced motion blur as exposures can be half as long as before.” Google claims.

And Night Sight now creates stunning low-light photographs that are crisper than before using only half the usual exposure time.

When the Night Sight tab is selected, you can choose between a 1, 2, or 3 second exposure period or Max, which typically goes up to 6 seconds depending on the lighting circumstances, by touching the button in the lower right corner of the screen. Hence, you can choose between a shorter exposure time for a better photograph or a longer exposure period. In either case, users of the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro will experience far less exposure time than they did with the original Night Sight.

As a result, users of the Pixel 6 series won’t need to struggle to hold the camera steady for as long as they once did in order to shoot a sharp Night Sight photo.

The Google Camera app on my phone is running version 8.8 and QPR3 Beta 1 on this author’s Pixel 6 Pro. Go to Settings > Apps and select “View all xxx apps” to find out what version of the app you are using. You can see the version of the Google Camera app you have by scrolling down to the Camera app section and looking at the very bottom of the page.
