There is a catch with the feature that iOS users may use to copy text from photographs that was supposedly unveiled by the short messaging service WhatsApp, owned by Meta Platforms.
The function, according to WABetaInfo, relies on iOS 16’s APIs, therefore only iPhones running iOS 16 will be able to utilise it.

After announcing voice status updates within the official changelog on the App Store, WhatsApp is now rolling out the ability to extract text right out of an image to everyone!https://t.co/tkehS2T6pl
The text recognition capability replicates any text it detects on a picture using the iPhone camera. To utilise it, open the text-containing picture in the WhatsApp app. You’ll find a text-copying option on the menu.
Due to security concerns, this functionality won’t function with photos set to “view once”.
