There are 15 additional durations for disappearing messages being developed by WhatsApp, which is owned by Meta.
According to WABetaInfo, the platform currently offers three time frames for messages that vanish: 24 hours, 7 days, and 90 days. There will be a “More options” menu item for the new durations.
A total of 15 new durations will be available on the menu: 1 year, 180 days, 60 days, 30 days, 21 days, 14 days, 6 days, 5 days, 4 days, 3 days, 2 days, 12 hours, 6 hours, and 1 hour.
With the inclusion of several disappearing message durations, users will surely have greater control over the messages they send and receive.
According to the article, the 1-hour duration will probably be useful for messages that include sensitive or confidential information because it will allow users to send brief messages that won’t remain on the recipient’s device for an extended period of time.
For those who are not familiar, disappearing messages are a feature that lets users send messages that, after a certain amount of time, vanish from both the sender’s and the recipient’s chat.
