YouTube is testing the hiding dislike button on its videos. The option aims to protect video creators from targeted dislike campaigns.

Currently YouTube shows likes and dislikes statistics beneath a video. These stats are also visible on the creators page.

But with this change, the viewers will be able to see the likes. It will be publicly visible on the video.

Since dislikes are able to impact the overall well-being of a video creator.

What could have been a useful feature now seems to be used otherwise. Sometimes the use of dislike button takes a hit at the video creator’s overall ranking.

Therefore, YouTube is considering to either hiding both (like/dislike). Or it can add more friction to disliking something via extra interaction. YouTue is also considering removing both the numbers completely.

As per YouTube, the video creators will still be able to see the exact number of likes and dislikes in YouTube Studio.
