Bangladeshi Porn Star Riya Barde’s Fake Passport Fiasco: 7 Lawyers, 90-Minute Court Showdown – Legal Drama Unfolds!
Mumbai – Riya Barde, a well-known figure in the adult film industry, who also goes by the names Aarohi Barde and Banna Sheikh, has been arrested by the Maharashtra Police for illegally residing in India using forged documents. She was taken into custody on September 26 from Ulhasnagar by the Hill Line Police for allegedly obtaining an Indian passport with false documentation. Barde is reportedly linked to the Raj Kundra production house, adding further intrigue to the case.
Charges and Courtroom Drama
Riya Barde faces multiple charges under the Indian Penal Code (IPC), including sections 420 (cheating), 465 (forgery), 468 (forgery for the purpose of cheating), 479 (use of a forged document), 34 (acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention), and 14A (offenses related to foreigners).
When Barde was produced in court, she was represented by a team of seven lawyers who fiercely defended her, questioning the basis of her arrest and challenging the police's assertion that she is a Bangladeshi national. The legal team contended that the police have no substantial evidence to prove her nationality. After a 90-minute heated debate, the judge remanded Barde to police custody until October 1, 2024.
Family Members Also Under Investigation
The police have also launched investigations against Barde's family members, including her mother, Anjali Barde (also known as Ruby Sheikh), father Arvind Barde, brother Ravindra (alias Riyaz Sheikh), and sister Ritu (alias Moni Sheikh). They face similar charges of using fake documents to reside in India. The authorities are also investigating the family’s potential links to a pornography racket in Mumbai.
A Friend's Complaint Led to the Arrest
The case came to light after a complaint was filed by one of Barde’s friends, Prashant Mishra, who alerted the authorities that Barde was living in India illegally. Following the complaint, police launched an investigation into her documents, discovering that her mother is originally from Bangladesh and that Barde had secured an Indian passport using fraudulent means. It is believed that her parents are currently residing in Qatar.
This is not the first time Riya Barde has faced legal trouble. According to the police, she had previously been arrested in connection with a prostitution case.
The case continues to develop as the police look deeper into her family's involvement and the alleged connections with illegal activities in the adult film industry.
