Bihar: Gang Selling Fake Gold in Kishanganj Exposed; Three, Including Woman, Arrested

Kishanganj, Bihar: In a significant breakthrough, a gang selling fake gold under the guise of real gold has been busted in Kishanganj. The Kishanganj Town Police arrested three individuals, including a woman, near Paschimpali Mall Bazaar. The gang was attempting to deceive a local cloth merchant when the merchant, aware of their scam, managed to trap them and hand them over to the police. Two other members of the gang managed to escape.
The cloth merchant, Raja Mallik, revealed that about ten days ago, two individuals had visited his shop, purchased some clothes, and showed him a silver coin and a gold chain. They claimed to have found these items while digging during their labor work and were unaware of their true value. They gave a small piece of the chain as a sample for testing, suggesting a deal only after verification.
However, Raja Mallik, familiar with such scams through social media, was already suspicious of their intentions. Despite continuous calls from the scammers trying to lure him with low prices, he decided to play along. The deal was finalized at ten lakh rupees, and the scammers agreed to deliver four kilograms of the supposed gold chain.
On Saturday evening, the scammers, including a woman and two men, arrived at Mallik's shop. While two other members stood guard outside, Mallik and his associates trapped the three scammers inside the shop and informed the police. The police promptly arrived and arrested the trio.

The arrested individuals have been identified as Randhawa, Sanjay, and Ganga from Shamli district in Uttar Pradesh. They confessed to luring unsuspecting victims by offering fake gold at attractive prices, claiming to have found it during their labor work. They admitted to targeting innocent people and deceiving them with counterfeit gold.
The police have seized a substantial quantity of fake gold chains from the arrested individuals. An FIR has been registered based on the merchant's complaint, and an investigation is underway.
The gang members revealed that they had come to Kishanganj 18 days ago searching for victims. They used small pieces of real gold tied with red threads to build trust with their targets. Once the potential buyer was convinced by the real gold pieces, they would sell the larger fake gold chains. This elaborate scheme allowed them to defraud many innocent people.
This incident highlights the importance of vigilance and awareness among the public to avoid falling prey to such scams. The police have assured that stringent action will be taken against the perpetrators to prevent such fraudulent activities in the future.
