In a surprising turn of events during a Ramleela performance in Aligarh, a Muslim woman, dressed in a burqa, was detained by locals on suspicion of theft. The incident took place on Tuesday night at the Achal Tal ground, where a crowd had gathered to witness the Lanka Dahan enactment.
As the performance was nearing its end around 11:15 PM, a few spectators began to leave. It was then that some attendees noticed the woman in a burqa and accused her of stealing belongings from the audience. A commotion followed, and the organizers quickly intervened, handing the woman over to the police for further investigation.
Upon interrogation, the woman claimed that she had come to watch the Ramleela with her brother-in-law and had no ulterior motives. She stated that she had left her home for a casual outing and decided to attend the Ramleela event. Despite her explanation, the police are continuing their investigation to verify the intent behind her presence at the event.
