Ghaziabad: Two Arrested for Rs 650 Crore GST Scam Involving Fake Companies

In a major breakthrough, the Central Goods and Services Tax (CGST) department in Ghaziabad has uncovered a massive Rs 650 crore scam involving fake companies and fraudulent invoices. The scam was revealed under the leadership of CGST Ghaziabad Commissioner Sanjay Lavania, leading to the arrest of two individuals, Gaurav Tomar and Chhatrapal Sharma.
The accused reportedly generated fake invoices using over 120 fake companies, manipulating GST records to show a turnover of Rs 650 crore. They issued fraudulent invoices worth Rs 110 crore without any actual supply of goods, pocketing significant tax amounts in the process. The investigation revealed that multiple companies were registered under a single mobile number, with all OTPs for transactions being sent to the same device.
