Hartalika Teej 2025: Date, Significance, Rituals and Best Wishes to Share
Hartalika Teej 2025 will be celebrated on Tuesday, August 26, marking one of the most important festivals for women in Hindu tradition. The festival falls on the Shukla Paksha Tritiya tithi of the Bhadrapada month. According to the calendar, the tithi begins on August 25 at 11:03 AM and ends on August 26 at 1:55 PM. The most auspicious time for Hartalika Puja is considered to be between 5:56 AM and 8:31 AM on August 26.
This festival is dedicated to the devotion of Goddess Parvati and her union with Lord Shiva. As per mythology, Goddess Parvati observed severe penance and fasts to win the love of Lord Shiva. To this day, women observe a Nirjala Vrat (fast without food and water) on Hartalika Teej, praying for marital bliss, prosperity, and the long life of their husbands. Unmarried women also keep this fast to be blessed with a suitable life partner.
The rituals include worshipping sand-made idols of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati, dressing in vibrant sarees, applying henna, singing devotional songs, and participating in cultural traditions. Married women exchange gifts, known as shringar, which include bangles, sindoor, and sweets. The vrat is broken the next day after offering prayers.
Hartalika Teej is celebrated with grandeur in states like Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, and parts of Nepal. The festival not only symbolizes faith and devotion but also highlights the cultural strength of women who keep this demanding fast with dedication.
On this special occasion, people also share wishes and messages with family and friends. Common greetings include, “May Goddess Parvati bless your life with happiness and prosperity,” and, “Wishing you love, joy, and marital bliss on this Hartalika Teej.” Social media platforms are filled with captions, quotes, and greetings to mark the occasion, blending traditional devotion with modern-day celebrations.
As Hartalika Teej 2025 approaches, devotees prepare to observe the fast with faith and tradition, spreading positivity through prayers, rituals, and heartfelt wishes.
