Hezbollah has launched a significant rocket barrage targeting Israel, firing approximately 150 projectiles, according to the Israeli military. This attack comes in response to Israeli strikes that targeted Hezbollah positions in Lebanon, as claimed by the Israel Defense Forces (IDF).

Following the rocket attack, air raid sirens have been heard continuously across Israeli territories near the Lebanese border. In response to the escalating situation, Israel has declared a state of emergency across the country. The incident follows an early morning operation on Sunday, during which Israeli forces reportedly targeted Hezbollah positions within Lebanese territory.

Targeting Israeli Military Sites

Hezbollah has stated that this latest attack specifically targeted a "significant Israeli military site," though the details of the location have not yet been disclosed. Additionally, the group claims to have struck several enemy positions, including military barracks and Iron Dome defense systems.

In response to the attack, the IDF posted on X (formerly Twitter), stating, "We target terrorist infrastructure, while they target civilians."

Retaliation for Fawad Shukur's Killing

The rocket barrage from Hezbollah appears to be in retaliation for the killing of one of their top commanders, Fawad Shukur, in an attack that took place in Beirut's southern suburbs last month. Hezbollah confirmed that Sunday's rocket attack was carried out to avenge Shukur's death, describing it as an operation aimed at a critical Israeli military installation. The group also emphasized that additional enemy sites, barracks, and Iron Dome platforms were targeted during the strike.

The situation remains tense as both sides continue to exchange fire, with the potential for further escalation in the ongoing conflict between Hezbollah and Israel.
