Home Guard Posing as Police Officer Arrested for Misbehaving with College Girls in Bengaluru

A shocking incident in Bengaluru has raised concerns about student safety after a 40-year-old home guard, Suresh Kumar, allegedly posed as a police officer and barged into the rented accommodation of four college girls. Kumar, who was deputed at the Sadashivanagar police station, is accused of misbehaving with one of the girls and extorting Rs 5,000 from a male college friend. The incident occurred in the early hours of January 26, at the MS Ramaiah Nagar area in central Bengaluru.

Around 1 am, Kumar, dressed in a khaki uniform, knocked on the door of the rented house and claimed to be investigating a nuisance complaint. When one of the boys opened the door, Kumar barged in, asserting that he was a crime branch officer. He then forced the four girls and two male students to kneel on the ground. Kumar allegedly misbehaved with Ramya (name changed), one of the girls, and made derogatory comments.

The situation escalated when Ramya's male friend messaged his cousin, Rohit, who lived nearby. Upon reaching the scene, Rohit discovered that Kumar had already mistreated the students. He later identified the accused as someone who had extorted money from his friend Ramesh in the past. Kumar had previously scanned Ramesh's phone, obtained Ramya's details, and had been extorting money from him.

Rohit immediately alerted the police control room. Officers from the Hoysala team detained Kumar, and he was handed over to Sadashivanagar police. Ramesh confirmed that Kumar had made multiple extortion calls and had been harassing him for some time. Police suspect that Kumar may have been following Ramesh to the girls' house.
