Koppal, October 5: In a shocking turn of events, the Koppal district's anganwadis have come under fire for a series of alarming irregularities that have raised serious concerns about child safety. The government has taken swift action by suspending Deputy Director Tippanna Sirisagi after multiple reports surfaced highlighting the chaotic conditions in these essential childcare centers.

Recent investigations revealed that instead of providing nutritious meals to children, anganwadis were caught in a scandal where they only filmed videos of giving eggs to kids, while the actual food supplies were found in a hotel! This came to light after a detailed report by TV9 Digital, which exposed the ongoing mismanagement and negligence in the anganwadi system.

The scandal deepened when, just last month, a concrete ceiling collapsed at an anganwadi in Mehboob Nagar, Gangavathi, injuring four children. Such incidents have created a climate of fear among parents, making them hesitant to send their children to these facilities meant to shape their futures.

The state allocates thousands of crores every year to anganwadis, which are supposed to be nurturing spaces for early childhood education. Instead, these centers have become sites of danger and mismanagement. On August 10, a video surfaced showing an anganwadi worker and an assistant playing a shocking prank where they served eggs to children but used them for an unsavory purpose, drawing widespread condemnation.

As a result of the mounting evidence and public outrage, the Women and Child Development Department took decisive action against Tippanna Sirisagi, suspending him to address the rampant irregularities and substandard conditions plaguing the anganwadis in Koppal.

The department had previously issued a notice to Tippanna, demanding explanations for the alarming reports. Given the serious lapses in duty and the safety of the children, the government deemed this suspension necessary while further investigations continue.

While the suspension is a step in the right direction, the community remains vigilant, urging the government to ensure accountability at all levels and prevent any future mishaps. Parents are calling for immediate reforms to restore trust in the anganwadi system, emphasizing the importance of safeguarding their children's well-being.
