Mahakumbh 2025: PM Modi Highlights Spiritual and Cultural Significance

Mahakumbh 2025: Prime Minister Narendra Modi, during his visit to Prayagraj, extended his best wishes for the upcoming Mahakumbh 2025, calling it a monumental event that will elevate India’s cultural and spiritual identity globally. The grand festival is set to take place from January 13 (Paush Poornima) to February 26 (Maha Shivratri) at the sacred confluence of the Ganga, Yamuna, and Saraswati rivers.
A Festival of Faith and Unity
PM Modi emphasized the Mahakumbh’s role as a divine representation of India's faith, spirituality, and unity. He stated, "Crores of people from across the country, with their diverse beliefs and thoughts, will unite at Sangam, showcasing India’s vibrant culture to the world."
Launch of Development Projects
The Prime Minister inaugurated development projects worth ₹5,500 crore to enhance Prayagraj’s infrastructure and amenities in preparation for the Mahakumbh. These projects aim to improve the city's capacity to host millions of pilgrims.
Ceremonial Puja at Sangam
Before launching the projects, PM Modi performed a ceremonial puja and darshan at the holy Sangam, accompanied by Uttar Pradesh Governor Anandiben Patel and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. He also undertook a river cruise, highlighting Prayagraj’s rich spiritual heritage.
Mahakumbh: A “Yagna” of Unity
Calling the Mahakumbh a “mega yagna of unity,” PM Modi underlined its global significance, as it brings together millions of pilgrims and devotees in one of the largest religious gatherings in the world.
Maha Kumbh Every 12 Years
Held every 12 years, the Mahakumbh is rooted in ancient Hindu texts and traditions. The 2025 event promises to be a grand spectacle, reflecting India’s spiritual heritage and cultural diversity.
