Bengaluru, September 23 – Former corporator Velu Naik, along with Dalit organization leaders, has filed a complaint with Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, alleging death threats from supporters of BJP MLA Munirathna. The allegations have surfaced amid ongoing investigations into multiple cases against Munirathna, including a rape accusation.

Naik and others claim they have been receiving frequent death threats and harassment from Munirathna's followers. Additionally, they have urged the Chief Minister to suspend Hebbagodi police inspector I.N. Reddy, accusing him of attempting to destroy evidence and aiding Munirathna by tapping opponents’ phones. "Reddy has been instrumental in covering up evidence, and we demand his immediate suspension," Naik stated after meeting with CM Siddaramaiah.

The controversy escalated after supporters of Munirathna allegedly threatened the son of the rape victim who filed the initial complaint. In another incident, a Munirathna aide, Sunandamma, reportedly intimidated witnesses at their homes. The intimidation was caught on CCTV footage and has been submitted as part of a police complaint.

The Karnataka government has already formed a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe the cases against Munirathna, who is currently facing several legal battles.
