Odisha Tragedy: In a shocking incident from Mayurbhanj, Odisha, a son killed his mother following a dispute over the distribution of rice from their ration card. Ration Rice Dispute Leads to Tragedy

The incident took place in Saratchandrapur village, under the Baripada Sadar police station area. The deceased, identified as Raibari Singh, was attacked by her son, Rohitas Singh, with a sharp weapon during a heated argument. The argument reportedly began when Rohitas demanded 10 kilograms of rice from the ration supply, which his mother refused to give.

Son Attempts Suicide After Killing Mother

After committing the crime, Rohitas attempted to end his life by slitting his throat with the same weapon. Fortunately, other family members intervened and rushed him to PRM Medical College and Hospital, where he is being treated under police supervision.

Family Conflict Behind the Incident

According to the police, the family was already embroiled in frequent disputes. On the day of the incident, Rohitas’s brother, Lakshmikant Singh, was not at home as he was out for work. Upon returning, he found their mother dead and his brother in critical condition. He immediately informed the police, who arrived at the scene, seized the weapon, and registered a case.
