Sharad Navratri 2024: Worship Rituals, Offerings, Mantras, Aarti, and Significance of Maa Shailputri
Sharad Navratri 2024 begins on October 3, marking the worship of Maa Shailputri on the first day. Maa Shailputri, a form of Goddess Parvati, is worshipped for bringing stability and peace to married life. She holds a lotus in her left hand and a trident in her right, riding a bull, symbolizing strength and devotion.
The first day of Navratri is also significant for "Ghatasthapana" (Kalash Sthapana), marking the start of the nine-day festival. To perform Maa Shailputri’s puja, devotees should wake up early, bathe, and prepare the home temple. Begin the ritual by placing the Kalash and offering red flowers to Maa Shailputri. Apply sindoor to her image or idol and offer fruits and sweets as prasad. Light a ghee lamp in front of the Goddess, followed by chanting Durga Chalisa and performing Aarti.
Devotees then take a vow to observe fasting and worship throughout Navratri. Maa Shailputri’s blessings are believed to remove obstacles and bring harmony. This sacred ritual on the first day sets the tone for the rest of the Navratri celebrations, dedicated to honoring the nine forms of Goddess Durga.
