Swara Bhasker Blames EVMs for Husband’s Defeat in Maharashtra Elections
Actress Swara Bhasker accuses EVMs of tampering with election results in her husband Fahad Ahmad's defeat in Maharashtra. The controversy has sparked debates about the role of electronic voting machines in the democratic process.
In a controversial post, actress Swara Bhasker has accused Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) of influencing the results in her husband Fahad Ahmad’s electoral defeat in the Anushakti Nagar constituency of Maharashtra. Fahad Ahmad, who contested as a candidate from the NCP-SP alliance, was initially leading the race. However, as the counting progressed, the trend reversed with sudden shifts in the voting tally. Swara Bhasker took to X, questioning the integrity of the machines, claiming that EVMs, which were at 99% battery charge, seemed to favor the BJP-supported candidate, Sana Malik from the Ajit Pawar-led NCP faction.
The Anushakti Nagar constituency, part of the Mumbai South-Central Lok Sabha seat, witnessed a fierce battle between Fahad Ahmad and Sana Malik. Despite maintaining a steady lead initially, Fahad Ahmad ultimately lost by a margin of 3,378 votes, as per the latest Election Commission trends. This defeat, according to Swara Bhasker, raises serious concerns over the transparency of the election process.
As the Mahayuti alliance claimed a major victory in Maharashtra, surpassing the majority threshold and securing leads in over 220 seats, celebrations erupted in BJP offices across Mumbai. Despite the opposition's loss in Maharashtra, they found solace in Jharkhand, where voters opted for continuity, resisting any major political shifts.
Swara Bhasker's post has sparked debates around the fairness of EVMs in elections, with many questioning the role these machines play in determining electoral outcomes. While the final results of the Anushakti Nagar constituency are yet to be officially announced, this incident adds fuel to the ongoing discussion on election transparency and technology's role in modern democracy.
