West Bengal: Parents Protest to Prevent Teacher's Transfer in Puran Ausgram, Watch Video

In a unique turn of events in Puran Ausgram, where complaints against teachers are often heard, parents took to the streets to stop the transfer of a beloved teacher. The parents, joined by students, protested and locked the school gates before opening hours, demanding that the teacher remain at their school.
This incident took place at Abhirampur Primary School in East Burdwan's Ausgram. While protests against school authorities or teachers are common, the situation in Ausgram is quite the opposite, with the community determined to keep their teacher from leaving.
The school has 67 students and four teachers. Among them, assistant teacher Mangalchandi Pal has received a transfer order. When the list of transfer orders was published by the school inspector’s office and locals saw Pal’s name on it, the community reacted strongly.

On Thursday morning, locals gathered in front of the school at 10 AM. Parents locked the school gates and students joined the protest to prevent the transfer of their favorite teacher.
Somnath Sen, the primary school inspector of Guskara 1 Circle, explained that while Abhirampur Primary School has more teachers than required for the number of students, a nearby school has only one teacher. Therefore, Pal's transfer was made in accordance with government regulations.
Parents and students expressed their support for Pal, saying, "He is very dedicated and teaches very well. We don’t want to let him go."
Teacher Mangalchandi Pal, touched by the affection from the community, stated that while he would love to stay, he is obliged to follow government rules and regulations.
