A 25-year-old woman in Mali on Tuesday gave birth to nine babies or nonuplets. The doctors had detected seven babies inside her womb.
Halima Cisse’s pregnancy has fascinated the West African nation and caught the attention of its leaders. Cisse needed special care as suggested by the doctors back in March. Therefore, the authorities flew her to Morocco, where she delivered the Nonuplets.
“The newborns (five girls and four boys) and the mother are all doing well,” Mali’s health minister, Fanta Siby, said in a statement.
The ultrasounds done in Morocco and Mali suggested that Cisse is pregnant with seven babies and missed out the two. Well, the woman underwent caesarean section during which she gave birth to not seven but nine babies (nonuplets).
A woman delivering nonuplets is an extremely rare case. Often some of the babies do not manage to reach full term due to medical complications.
