Traffic cop uses Michael Jackson’s ‘moonwalk’, know why (Videos)

Indore traffic cop moonwalk

For nearly 16 years, a traffic policeman has been using late pop icon Michael Jackson’s moonwalk to control traffic in Madhya Pradesh’s Indore.

Ranjeet Singh shot to fame on social media for his unique way of performing his duty. And once again his video has gone viral on the internet.

As per a report by NDTV, the traffic cop has become a local celebrity as many people often approach him to take selfies. However, there is a tragic story behind the way he works.

Singh has appeared on various television shows. The traffic cop was also recognised for the best traffic management. Besides dancing at work, he also trains his colleagues.

“It has been nearly sixteen years (since he started dancing at work). I got a message on my communication device that an accident had taken place and I had to control the crowd. When I went to the spot, I found out that the person who died in the accident was my friend. As I was pacing across the road in angst, my superior officer told me, people were stopping because of my movement. Since I was a dancer, I brought ‘moonwalk’ into my work,” the traffic cop told NDTV.

Singh had been a dance fanatic since he was a student but he could not build a career in dancing due to poverty. With his dancing, he says he can handle traffic better. He also helps put a smile on the faces of travellers. “People set out in a bad mood, but feel good when they see me dancing”.

Additional Superintendent of Police Prashant Chobey hailed Singh. “He does his work well. Wherever he is assigned, traffic moves smoothly. He has an aura. Nobody fights with him if he stops them,” he told NDTV.
