On Friday, US President Joseph Biden appointed two Indian-Americans to the Advisory Committee for Trade Policy and Negotiations: Revathi Advaithi, CEO of Flex, and Manish Bapna, CEO of the Natural Resources Defence Council.
On Friday, Biden declared his intention to name 14 individuals to the Advisory Committee, which offers general policy guidance to the US Trade Representative on issues relating to the creation, execution, and administration of US trade policy.
The White House stated that some of these include negotiating goals and bargaining positions prior to entering into trade agreements, the effect of their implementation, questions pertaining to how any trade agreement will function once it has been signed, and other issues arising in connection with the creation, administration, and implementation of American trade policy.
Flex is “the global manufacturing partner of choice that helps a varied customer base create and build things to change the world,” according to CEO Revathi Advaithi.
The White House stated that after taking on the position in 2019, Advaithi has been in charge of shaping the company’s strategic direction and guiding Flex through a transition that is ushering in a new era in manufacturing.
Prior to joining Flex, Advaithi served as president and COO of Eaton, a corporation with more than USD 20 billion in annual revenues and 102,000 people.
She has also held positions in Eaton’s electrical division, Americas, and Honeywell, and she is a member of the Uber and Catalyst.org boards of directors.
Advaithi joined the WEF Alliance of CEO Climate Leaders and serves as Co-Chair of the World Economic Forum’s (WEF) Advanced Manufacturing CEO Community.
She was ranked among Business Today’s Most Influential Women in India and included on Fortune’s list of the Most Powerful Women in Business for four years running.
She has an MBA from Thunderbird School of Global Management and a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Birla Institute of Technology and Science.
The Natural Resources Defence Council (NRDC), headed by Manish Bapna, is credited with many of the most important environmental achievements of the past 50 years, including the development of fundamental environmental laws, significant legal victories, and ground-breaking research, according to the White House.
In his leadership positions over the course of his 25-year career, Bapna has concentrated on developing methods that are fair, long-lasting, and scalable to address the underlying causes of poverty and climate change. Most recently, he was the World Resources Institute’s Executive Vice President and Managing Director.an organisation that has spent more than 14 years conducting study on the relationship between the environment and human development.
He was trained as an economist and began his work at McKinsey & Company and the World Bank before switching to advocacy at the Bank Information Center. According to the White House, he holds master’s degrees in business and political and economic development from Harvard University as well as a bachelor’s in electrical engineering from MIT.
