Myanmar’s military took centre stage and detained several key figures of the country on Monday. Myanmar’s de facto leader Aung San Suu Kyi among others have been detained followed by a coup. Only ten years back, the military had handed over the power to a civilian government.
The military coup was apparently a response to the fraud in last year’s November elections. Aung San Suu Kyi’s party National League for Democracy (NLD) had won by a landslide.
Furthermore, a state of emergency is now imposed for one year in Myanmar after the military took over the country. The world reacted surprisingly to the news of a military coup in Burma.
