In a tragic incident amid the ongoing unrest in Bangladesh, actor Shanto Khan and his father, film producer Selim Khan, were brutally beaten to death by a mob. The attack occurred as they attempted to flee from the violence.

According to local media reports, Shanto and Selim encountered an enraged crowd at Forkkabad Bazaar in Balia Union Parishad. They reportedly fired shots from a pistol in self-defense but were met by another mob near Bagara Bazaar, where they were ultimately beaten to death.

Who Was Shanto Khan?

Shanto Khan was a rising star in the Bangladeshi film industry. He made his acting debut in 2019 and quickly garnered attention for his talent and screen presence. Shanto is best known for his portrayal of the young Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in the 2021 film "Tungiparar Miya Bhai." This role brought him significant acclaim and recognition.

Indian actor Rajatava Dutta also reacted with disbelief and sorrow, saying, "I was stunned after hearing the news that he and his father were killed. We don’t know the circumstances leading to their deaths. It saddens my heart to learn they were killed. Artists like us who thrive on art and creativity always yearn for peace, amity, and brotherhood."

Actress Kaushani Mukhopadhyay, who co-starred with Shanto in the film "Piya Re," shared her distress, stating, "I got the deeply disturbing news late Monday night and have remained distressed ever since."
