Bill Gates warns of abundant caution as world reaches the peak of Omicron spread

Published Date:

Bill Gates, via Twitter has raised his concerns over the surge in Omicron variant cases worldwide.

While alerting the public, he warned of an abundant need for caution as we approach the peak of the festive season.

He also shared that he himself has canceled most of his holiday plans.

This comes after some of his close friends got increasingly infected with the virus.

The Microsoft co-founder has been urging his followers to not lower the guards; as the world could be entering the worst part of the pandemic.

Bill Gates also emphasised upon the pertinent danger of the Omicron variant in terms of it’s reinfection rate.

“Omicron is spreading faster than any virus in history. It will soon be in every country in the world,” Gates wrote.

The US is also witnessing a surge of the Omicron infections, with the share of US Covid infections that Omicron accounts for jumping from 3 per cent to 73 per cent in the space of a single week.

HE also stressed how the vital Covid precautions are at this time.

But Bill Gates tried to end his awareness thread on a positive note. “If there’s good news here, it’s that omicron moves so quickly that once it becomes dominant in a country, the wave there should last less than 3 months.”
