Canadian PM Justin Trudeau and his family leaving their home have briefly shifted to a secret location. The move comes after a large-scale protest opposing Covid vaccine mandates reached the Parliament Hill, as per media reports.
The protests begun as ‘Freedom Convoy’ against a vaccine requirement for cross-border truckers have now snowballed into a large-scale demonstration against PM Trudeau’s Covid-19 regulations.
Hundreds of thousands of truckers and other protesters converged in the Capital city Saturday. The protesters have been demanding an end to Covid-19 vaccine mandates and other public health restrictions.
It is noteworthy that even kids with their parents, elderly and disabled people thronged the Capital city.
Carrying signs with aggressive and obscenity-laced rhetoric which targeted Justin Trudeau, the angry gathering walked down the streets.
Police have been on high alert to tackle any kind of flare-ups. According to Police, nearly 10,000 people were expected to be on hand by day’s end. The crowd size was huge showing the power of collectively raising voice for a cause.
Earlier this week, Trudeau told media that he was concerned the protest would turn violent, but said the convoy represented a “small fringe minority” who “do not represent the views of Canadians.”
However, his statement now proves to be diametrically opposite to what has come out on the streets of Canada.
