Europe witnesses a fresh wave of Covid-19, Austria embraces complete lockdown

The rising Covid-19 infections in Europe are becoming a worrying trend for the world. Europe, once again, has become the new global epicentre of the pandemic.

Many countries in Europe have even tightened restrictions in the wake of Covid-19; Austria has announced a nationwide lockdown in order to curb the growing Covid infections.

The Netherlands has also gone for partial lockdown. Moreover, it is now planning to put some restrictions on unvaccinated individuals leading to protests from angry citizens.

The protests against the Covid curbs turned violent after the Dutch police fired warning shots and used water cannons to push the crowd back.

Germany in Europe is the latest nation to warn about a possible lockdown over rising Covid cases.

As per the Robert Koch Institute, Germany reported over 42,000 fresh Covid-19 cases and 75 related deaths in the last 24 hours.

When it comes to India, the country is witnessing a recovery rate of over 98.2 per cent. This remains the highest since March 2020.

On Saturday, India’s Covid-19 vaccination coverage has crossed the 116 crore milestone.

The World Health Organization (WHO) is also quite worried about the fresh wave of Covid-19 in Europe.

While the UK government has been consistently denying reports of any fresh lockdowns in the near future.
