Indian Student Shot Dead in Chicago
The young man who had come to the United States for further studies after completing graduation in India, was pursuing an MBA here. His parents who reside near Telangana's Khammam district were left shocked by this senseless act of violence. Sai Teja was working at the petrol pump to assist his friend when he lost his life. He had reportedly stayed on at his friend's request to work at the station, not on his duty. It shows that students are not even secure while working part-time in other countries as support for their education. It is reported that armed attackers attacked the petrol pump and shot Sai Teja. There was no survival possibility. Madhusudan Thatha, the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) leader, met the grieving family and wished them well. He talked to the victim's parents who are still in shock due to the loss of their son. Thatha said he had also been in contact with the Telugu Association of North America (TANA) for support in pursuing justice for Sai Teja and to ensure the family receives necessary assistance during this difficult time. The tragic death of Sai Teja has shocked the local community, from Telangana to the Indian diaspora in the United States.
While the authorities in Chicago continue to investigate the shooting, the loss of this young student who came to the US with dreams of a better future serves as a reminder of the vulnerabilities that international students face. The community has rallied together to support the grieving family and seek justice for Sai Teja Nukarapu.
