Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is set to lose hold on power, as the Israeli lawmakers are going to vote for new coalition government today, June 13, 2021.
The coalition was formed by bitter ideological rivals to banish Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu from power.
This comes after the most dominant Israeli politician of his generation failed to form a government post-March 23 election. It was the fourth election that took place in two years.
The new cabinet, which was cobbled together by centrist opposition Yair Lapid and ultra-nationalist Naftali Bennett, will take oath after winning the Knesset confidence vote.
According to the coalition agreement, the ultra-nationalist Yamina party leader Naftali Bennett will serve as the Prime Minister for two years. This coalition government would focus on the economic and social issues of the country.
